Exercise Specialist

Chad Finley, MS, CPT, ISSA

Chad Finley is the Exercise Specialist at Health 360 Wellness Clinic. His role resembles personal training from the outside, but the job is built differently. Every movement program Chad designs is grounded in the patient's SECA body composition scan, indirect calorimetry, lab work, and the specific clinical outcomes Dr. Kalra is targeting. The prescription comes first. The movement follows.

Chad earned both his undergraduate degree in Exercise and Sport Science and his Master's in Health Promotion from the University of Memphis, which was not his original plan. He had intended to go to dental school, applied, and did not get in. That rejection redirected him to the University of Memphis and, ultimately, to a field he has spent more than 25 years building his career in. He describes it as one of the better things that has ever happened to him.

His clinical foundation runs deep. Chad spent roughly 12 years at Campbell Clinic as a physical therapy tech, working alongside the clinic's orthopedic and sports medicine physicians and PTs on patients including Memphis Grizzlies, Memphis Tigers, and other professional and collegiate athletes. During that time he co-developed a jump-training program for ACL and meniscus patients that became known internally as "the Chad program" and was used to clear athletes to return to sport. He later worked at Results Physiotherapy across Collierville, Cordova, and Bartlett, and then at St. Francis Hospital as a rehab tech on the inpatient side, where he worked with stroke and cardiac patients and co-built a weekly stroke education course covering the brain, recovery, stress, diet, and exercise.

Chad's path was not without difficulty. He lost his sister in 2017, in the middle of his master's program. A divorce followed in 2019. He has spoken openly about leaning on his faith to carry him through both. That experience lives in how he works with patients. He knows what it means to have to keep going when you are not sure how.

He is a Memphis native, and that fact is central to how he thinks about his work. Memphis consistently ranks among the least healthy cities in the country, and Chad treats that as a responsibility. His current Health 360 Wellness patient mix reflects it: approximately 95 percent are over 50 and managing diabetes. Most have tried programs before. His approach is modification over prescription, baby steps that compound, and a plan that adapts when the body does not cooperate. He has volunteered with Midsouth Food Bank for five years, and his community investment runs alongside his clinical work.

Chad maintains weekly contact with every Health 360 Wellness patient through the Trainerize app, delivering a new full-body workout each week and offering unlimited text access between sessions. He adjusts programs the same day a patient reports pain or a new limitation.

"Personal training goes far beyond losing weight or building muscle. It's about creating lasting lifestyle changes: developing discipline, consistency, and the mindset to push past limitations."
"Your path doesn't have to be perfect. It just has to be yours."
